Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
The Ed.D program is designed to prepare educational administrators for leadership roles in school systems and related agencies. Coursework includes leadership and policy studies, advanced school law, historical foundations of educational administration, advanced school finance, community and interagency collaboration, planning educational facilities, and organization and delivery of instructional services.

Preparation Program for School Principals and Supervisors
For individuals seeking a licensure in public school leadership, MA.Ed. and Educational Specialist degree programs are available. Those two year programs will entitle graduates to receive Virginia Licensure as school leaders.

The Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program is a distance graduate program sponsored by five universities in the State of Virginia: Virginia Tech (VT), University of Virginia (UVA), Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Old Dominion University (ODU) and George Mason University (GMU). The CGEP offers individuals an opportunity to earn a master's degree part-time through traditional face-to-face instruction as well as two-way video graduate classes. Virginia Tech offers graduate degree programs in Civil and Environmental, Electrical and Computer, and Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Horticulture
A Master of Science in Horticulture is offered on-site at the Hampton Roads Center. The program offers advanced degree opportunities or for persons who desire to be employed in greenhouse, nursery production, landscape, turf management, urban forestry and related areas. The Hampton Roads Agriculture, Research, and Extension Center Faculty, along with faculty based on the VPI and SU campus serve as instructors. The program utilizes the Hampton Roads AREC facilities for on-site/action research.

National Institute of Aerospace (NIA)
NIA is a non-profit research and graduate education institute created to conduct leading-edge aerospace and atmospheric research, develop new technologies for the nation and help inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
NIA was formed by a consortium of leading research universities. Members include: Georgia Tech, Hampton University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina State University, the University of Maryland, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion University, the College of William & Mary and the AIAA Foundation.
NIA serves as a strategic partner with NASA Langley Research Center and the aerospace community to enable research creativity and expand technology development opportunities. The Institute integrates research and graduate education while creating new government/academia/industry partnerships to solve tomorrow's problems today.
Virginia Tech graduate programs available through NIA include: MS and PhD in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, Engineering Science and Mechanics, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

On-line Programs offered through Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech offers eLearning degrees and certificates at the graduate level. Bachelor's degrees are not available. Program courses are delivered online, via interactive videoconferencing, or by a mix of online and videoconferencing components. The Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning provides leadership, coordination, management and support to the on-line programs. The Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Center supports students enrolled in the on-line degreed and licensure programs by providing computer laboratory access, exam proctoring, and access to on campus faculty through its interacative video conferencing equipment.
