CPS/CAP Certification Review Course
April 17 - October 23, 2008
6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The Certified Public Secretary/Certified Administrative Professional review course is an instructor lead course to prepare individuals to take the national certification exam to achieve the CPS/CAP designation. The 6 week modules mirror the exam topics and participants will meet once a week on Thursday evenings from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. at the VT Hampton Roads Centers. Participants may registered for each module individually or all four for a discount of $40.

ServSafe Certification Program

Rosalyn Taylor, Food Safety Educator and Consultant for the Hampton Roads Food Safety Company is offering a two day ServSafe Certification program at the Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Center in June. The 16- hour course details food safety components and includes the certification exam on the second day.

One Day Essential Technologies in the Hospitality Industry

This one day program provides the individual who wishes to learn more about the essential technology tools to be more efficient and effective working in the hospitality industry.  Using both didactic and hands-on learning, the students will become more comfortable with the technology terminology and applications.  Software, web-based and mobile solutions will be covered throughout the day.

The program will be divided into 4 – 90 minute mini-sessions, which includes a working lunch where an open technology forum will occur, allowing attendees to share their knowledge and understanding of various technologies. Critical Excel Tools for Meeting Professionals

Jim Spellos will present his second Webinar focusing on “Critical Excel Tools for Meeting Professionals” on June 23, 2008 12:00-1:00 p.m. Topics for this session include the following:

    • Identify 10 critical Excel advanced tools
    • Understand how to integrate information from multiple spreadsheets and outside resources
    • Learn how to utilize Excel for industry tasks such as rate negotiation and attrition management

    The Virginia Festivals & Events Association in partnership with the VT Hampton Roads Center will offer a one day seminar focusing on festival and event development, logistics and delivery October 25, 2008 in the Hampton Roads region.
