Classroom Management & Instructional Strategies
Once again, the VT Hampton Roads Center and the VT Richmond Center have partnered to offer workshops for middle and high school teachers who would like to learn new skills and perspectives to improve their classroom management techniques or deal more effectively with challenging students. Experts in the field of education are returning to r offer workshops in Classroom Management and Instructional Strategies. Topics for Classroom Management will include organizing, connecting, timing, lesson planning, and discipline. Instructional Strategies topics will include components of effective lessons, brain-friendly teaching strategies, alignment of assessment, reinforcement techniques, and relevant academic games and activities.
The $125 workshop fee will include six hours of comprehensive education, handouts, refreshment breaks and lunch and are scheduled for the following dates:
Instructional Strategies - 8:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Richmond Center - November 16, 2009
Hampton Roads Center - December 2, 2008

Instructors for the workshops are Dr. Carol Cash and Ms. Bettiann Aylor. Dr. Cash received her doctorate from Virginia Tech and has 33 years in K-12 education. She is a professor for the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program in Virginia Tech’s School of Education. Dr. Cash brings with her a variety of experiences at all levels and recent observations of effective classroom teaching and management strategies. Ms. Aylor, a graduate of Mary Washington and the University of Virginia, has over 30 years of experience in public education at the middle and high school levels. She is well versed in active learning strategies and effective management techniques. She has extensive experience working with colleagues to help them establish learning environments that work for both the teacher and the students.
