Topic 1: Meetings & Events Technology
Contact Hours Required: 8 hours
Course Description: This curriculum is designed to give participants an introduction to the technology tools such as financial packages, spreadsheets, meeting planning software, internet search tools, etc., which are needed to manage and attain meeting/event goals.
Learning objectives:
1. Become aware of technology tools available to meeting and event planners.
2. Identify and use technology tools appropriately.
3. Learn to interpret the results of the reports available with technology applications and tools.
Teaching Tools: Teaching tools may include webinars, pre-recorded video, multi-media such as electronic presentations, slides, overhead, demonstrations, case studies, and/or interactive discussion and exercises.
Take home materials: Website references, hard copy handouts, textbooks, copies of articles or publications, and/or electronic copies of presentation materials
Instructor’s tools or expectations: Instructor is encouraged to incorporate examples, case studies, multi-media tools, and/or publications to demonstrate learning objectives, provide handouts, and require group discussion, if applicable.
Evaluation tool: The course and the instructor will be evaluated by the students using a standard questionnaire or survey. The instructor will also evaluate the class and provide feedback to planners regarding successes, failures, or changes needed to better accommodate the students or program. The instructor may also incorporate tools that assist the students in evaluating their success in accomplishing the learning objectives. In wrap up at the end of the program, students will be encouraged to openly evaluate each session with comments and/or suggestions for future changes and/or corrections.
